How fast does it actually work?
As you chew, part of the caffeine is absorbed through the lining of your mouth, ahead of your stomach. In research, caffeine gum reached the blood faster than a capsule, and many people start to feel it in about 5 to 15 minutes. A drink or capsule typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. Everyone is different.

How much caffeine is too much?
The FDA cites 400mg of caffeine a day, about four pieces of Instant, as an amount not generally associated with negative effects for most healthy adults. That counts all your caffeine, including coffee, tea, soda and energy drinks, and many people are more sensitive. Start with one piece.
