How fast does it actually work?
As you chew, part of the caffeine is absorbed through the lining of your mouth, ahead of your stomach. In research, caffeine gum reached the blood faster than a capsule, and many people start to feel it in about 5 to 15 minutes. A drink or capsule typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. Everyone is different.
How much caffeine is in one piece?
100mg of natural caffeine from green coffee bean extract, about the same as a cup of coffee (an 8 oz brewed cup averages around 96mg). Start with one piece and see how you feel.
How much caffeine is too much?
The FDA cites 400mg of caffeine a day, about four pieces of Instant, as an amount not generally associated with negative effects for most healthy adults. That counts all your caffeine, including coffee, tea, soda and energy drinks, and many people are more sensitive. Start with one piece.
Is it safe? Who should skip it?
Instant contains caffeine. It is not recommended for children under 18, women who are pregnant or nursing, or people sensitive to caffeine, and it is not for pets. If you have a medical condition or take medication, check with your doctor first.
What does it taste like?
Sour apple. Sweet first, then a sour hit, like the gum you grew up on.
What's in it?
Per piece: 100mg of caffeine from green coffee bean extract and 25mg of magnesium. Other ingredients: xylitol, gum base, maltitol, natural flavors, citric acid, Himalayan pink salt, sucralose, malic acid and vitamin E. No sugar, no aspartame, no food dyes and no artificial flavors. Xylitol and maltitol are sugar alcohols, which can upset your stomach if you eat a lot of them, and xylitol is dangerous for dogs, so keep the bag away from pets. See the full label.
